For a long time there have been issues with cars on the verges outside Bengeo School. Whether it’s turning on the road or parking on the verge, this combination has damaged the grass verges causing bald and unsightly mud patches. In addition cars parked up on the verges severely restricts the view of the road for parents and children.
County Councillor Andrew Stevenson and Rosemary Chatindo from HCC Highways have worked together to organise the erection of wooden bollards on the grass verges from Bengeo School to the junction with Cowper Crescent. The bollards have been extended to the junction to stop the problem from being transferred further up the road.
Both Councillor Andrew Stevenson and Bengeo headteacher, Julie Starkiss, have expressed their joy at having an improved walking experience for the children going to school and better surroundings for residents.
