Planning applications have been submitted for the development of the old Bengeo Car Centre site which closed recently.
The previous residents were Noble Cars, who had operated from the site for over 5 years, and who vacated the area as it had been earmarked for residential property development.
The site is currently owned by McMullen & Sons, the 192 year old Hertford brewery, who also own The Greyhound next door. The Greyhound was McMullen’s first public house and has been owned by the brewery for over 150 years.
2 applications have been submitted, one for 5 houses and the other for 6 houses. Both applications are terraced housing comprising 4 bedrooms for each house, and a total of 12 parking spaces.
However, it is unclear whether all 12 parking spaces will be for the new houses, or whether 2 of them will be allocated to the adjoining cottages. If this were the case the application for 6 homes would only provide a single parking space for two of the 4-bedroom houses.
Anybody who would like to view or comment on the applications can do so on the East Herts Planning Application Portal with reference 3/19/1055/FUL and 3/19/1056/FUL.
