Elections 2021 – Bengeo Goes Green

9th May 2021 9:44 pm / molewood

Bengeo had the opportunity during the 2021 elections to vote for a local councillor, HCC councillor and police commissioner.

The local council election came about following the death of Dr Linda Radford in 2020 following months of illness. Linda had served for 10 years as a Conservative town councillor, was Mayor of Hertford for 2 years, and was an impassioned and committed councillor.

Andrew Stevenson, the previous County Councillor for All Saints ward, ran as an independent following his failure to win reselection by the local Conservative Party. Andrew had supported local residents on many issues affecting the area over the years.

Both posts, previously held by Conservative councillors, have been won by members from the Green Party. Ben Crystall was elected as County Councillor for the All Saints ward, and is also currently a District Councillor providing vocal support for local residents. Vicky Smith was elected as local councillor for Bengeo Ward, has lived in Hertford for 16 years and is a primary school teacher with a passion for education.

David Lloyd (Conservative Party candidate), the existing Police and Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire, was overwhelmingly re-elected for another term.
