Love Bengeo are looking for input from business owners in the area for the Bengeo Neighbourhood Area Plan (BNAP) Business Working Group Meeting. This will be held on 9th November, 8:30am-9:45am at the Mill Bridge Rooms, The Seed Warehouse, The Wash, SG14 1PX.
What is BNAP?
Since April 2012 local communities have been able to produce Neighbourhood Plans for their local area, putting in place planning policies for the future development and growth of the neighbourhood. The plan can for instance control where new shops and offices should be built, what those buildings should look like, and what infrastructure should be provided.
All the policies in a Neighbourhood Plan must be consistent with the Local Plan; in our case, the District Plan by East Herts District Council. The plan can shape development bit it cannot prevent development which is part of the Local Plan.
What is the Planning Process?
There are five main stages of setting up a Neighbourhood Plan process:
- Agreeing a designated area for the plan
- Developing a vision and objectives for the plan
- Preparing and creating the plan in consultation with residents and all other interested parties
- An independent examination to check the plan meets the legislative requirements
- Referendum – if the plan gets a majority of those voting, it will be adopted and has statutory force
Why your input makes a difference?
As only people living within the Bengeo Ward area can vote in the referendum, The Business Working Group seeks to gather input, opinion and advice from all of the business owners within the Ward to ensure their views, ideas and needs are accurately represented. In short, it is your opportunity to ‘have your say’ and help shape Bengeo Ward for businesses both now and in the future.
